Soft cable breakage problem treatment plan

In LCD TVs, mobile phones, notebook computers, cameras and other products, a large number of flexible cables are used for signal transmission. The surface of such flexible cables is a high-toughness plastic film with a plurality of thin metal strips arranged in the middle. Since some of the flexible cable is in the position of frequent flipping, the breakage phenomenon is prone to a long time. If no new cable can be replaced, it can be handled as follows.


Step 1: Find the crack

First observe the structure of the two ends of the cable and how to fix the plug, then carefully separate the plug of the flexible cable from the motherboard and gently pull out the cable. In this step, you must carefully observe and determine the removal method, and must not rush to prevent serious damage to the flexible cable or plug.

Next, use the observation method to find the breakpoint, that is, use the naked eye to see where the line has obvious creases, and the breaks are caused by creases. If it is difficult to see with the naked eye, you can use a high magnification magnifying glass and place the soft cable under strong light for searching. Since most of the flexible wires are relatively thin, the break points are generally clearly seen under the illumination of strong light. In order to ensure that the breakpoints found are accurate, a digital multimeter can be used to confirm the diagnosis. Since the tip of the ordinary multimeter pen is too thick, it is recommended to fix a needle on the pen tip and place the multimeter in a resistance of 200 Ω.


Step 2: Handling breakpoints

After finding the breakpoint, use a blade to gently scrape off the film on the surface of the breakpoint. Since the flexible cable is too thin and too thin, this step must be careful, and the force should be moderate. The wire should be exposed to the metallic luster. The thin wire should not be broken, and a hole should not be scraped on the wire.


Step 3: Welding

First use a blade to scrape a little rosin powder on the scraped wire. Then, after the soldering iron is at normal temperature, unplug the power plug of the soldering iron, use the residual heat, slightly dipped a little solder on the tip, and then quickly cut off. Point to weld.

In this step, the welding time must be short, otherwise it will easily burn the cable. If the soldering does not work, it can be repeated several times until it is detected by the multimeter.


Step 4: Reinforce

After soldering the breakpoint, apply a layer of 703 silicone rubber to the front and back of the solder joint and the crease. After the 703 silicone rubber is naturally dried, apply 703 silicone rubber one or two times, and wait until the silicone rubber is completely air-dried again.
